A transformational executive with foresight and imagination, Katie’s determination, grit, and entrepreneurial savvy sets the framework for how she approaches work and achieves success. Katie is the executive vice president of Haydon Building Corp, a leading general contractor in the Southwest with the unique ability to perform building, heavy civil and landscape construction.
Katie was born into a construction family when her father Gary Haydon was employed as an iron worker. Growing up as an only child of a single father, she has spent countless hours on jobsites, doing whatever tasks were needed to help the project teams out. Her father started his own construction company 1991, however it was never Katie’s intent to be his successor. She eventually joined Haydon in 2010 in the accounting department, which is when she could see a path forward for her in the company her father created. In 2018, Katie and Gary starting making plans to transition leadership to the next generation. Katie is embracing her father’s legacy of perseverance and tenacity while sharing the always be humble, hungry and smart belief.
Katie holds an MBA from the Thunderbird, School of Global Management and a Bachelor of Science In Accountancy from ASU. She started her construction career in the accounting department of a large national homebuilder and a land development firm before joining Haydon.
Katie is active in the community and is a member of Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Westmarc, 100 Club, Leadership West, Arizona Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, Arizona Builders Alliance, The Consul Corps of Arizona, Canada Arizona Builders Council, Junior League of Phoenix, Heart Ball, and the Esperanza School for Homeless Children.
Katie was recognized by the Construction Financial Management Association as 2020 Emerging Leader and was featured as one of the 20 Young Leaders Shaping Commercial Real Estate in 2020, by AZ Big Media.
